About St Brendan’s

St Brendan’s GAA Manchester was formed 60 years ago on August 24th 1959 to cater for Irish men and women who had emigrated to England in search of employment opportunities and in the hope of a new life. Manchester was a favoured destination for many Irish and one such lad was Roscommon-born Michael Mangan. Michael acted as Chairman of the newly founded club in 1959, and 60 years on he still takes an active role in promoting Gaelic football within Manchester and across the North West.

Based in Trafford, at the heart of South Manchester, St Brendan’s has grown from strength to strength in the 6 decades since it was initially founded. The club now has a thriving underage structure as well as being able to attract senior footballers who settle in and around Manchester.
